Our purpose is to promote the welfare of American Intercollegiate Football by developing and assuring the availability of competent and responsible officials for varsity, lightweight, junior varsity and freshman games played by all the colleges throughout the East.
The Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials conducts training and qualifying clinics annually for all members in order that they maintain or improve their positions on the lists from which assignments are made, and for new candidates who desire to become members.
Since 1945 the program has included one centrally located clinic for major college officials, and now eight other clinics, one in each geographical district, for minor college, junior varsity, lightweight and freshman game officials and those seeking membership.
This training enables the Association to provide the most competent officials to service the colleges in the eastern territory. The Association believes that this program for the development of better officiating is as desirable to the colleges seeking superior officials as it is to officials seeking top ranking. The objectives are threefold: (1) to assure that each official deliver his best; (2) to seek, discover, and develop the ablest prospects in each geographical area; and (3) to assure uniformity and high standards for all college officiating throughout the East.
